Huddle House was recently featured in QSR Magazine in an article titled, "Restaurants Hit the Open Road." Mark Whittle, Huddle House's Chief Development Officer, discusses how Huddle House is expanding into
Pilot Flying J Travel Centers. Mark discusses the growth opportunity for Huddle
House to start developing in these travel centers because of the duel traffic
flow and the target demographic of the customers. Also, portion size is what
sets Huddle House away from its competition, developing a supplemental “Big
Rig” menu for each of the new restaurants. Within the span of about 90 days,
Huddle House will have six truck-stop locations open in several states. Huddle
House has also made menu improvements knowing that this clientele will be
demanding food quickly, why they have made menu improvements that increases the

Restaurants Hit the Open Road
By: Jordan Melnick
With at least two mid-size restaurant chains planning to expand through highway travel centers in the coming year, other quick serves looking to grow may want to hit the open road.
Both Huddle House and Fazoli’s, which, respectively, have 430 locations and 230 locations nationwide, are in the process of opening new stores at roadside travel centers, according to the companies.
Huddle House is a diner concept based in Decatur, Georgia, and is planning to add six truck-stop locations to the 25 it already has through an agreement with travel-center operator Pilot Flying J.
